Note: The appearance (colors, size,
dithering, etc.) of screen shots looks different on different Web
browsers. Actual screens usually look better than they appear here... All
screens were designed to be SELF-EXPLANATORY!
The screen that appears below show how Softwrights Stop
Button's Icon appears on the Window's Taskbar that
usually (default) appears across the bottom of your screen.
- The Softwrights Stop Button Icon is a Red Square
with a White "X" inside ... This looks like a Window's
Close Box (original design looked more like an octogonal stop
sign but it didn't look as prominant).
- The icon appears in the Status Area (the Tray) of the
Taskbar (right side near the clock) whenever the program is run ...
Usually (default) the program is set up to automatically start whenever
you start your computer ... So it's always there when you need it.
- Click once on the icon to immediately run Window's
Shutdown procedure ... The whole idea of this program is to save you
time so there is no double-check message ... Note: A funny Pre-Shutdown
Animation appears (default) prior to Shutdown in the Multimedia
Edition ... Unless you optionally shut off this feature.
- Right-click on the icon to display the Options screen (see
below) where you can unload the program from memory (icon also
disappears), get help, see nerd info, change animation options, etc.
The screen that appears below is the Important Reminder
screen. It reminds you of the importance of
Shutting down your computer properly before turning it off... This is
useful for novice Windows users. This screen also gives brief instructions
on how to use the Stop Button icon.
You have the following options from this screen ...
- Press the OK button to erase this screen but continue to
display this screen each time your computer starts.
- Press the Don't remind me anymore buton to erase this screen
and not display this screen each time your computer starts.
- Press the Options button to display the Options screen ...

- Use the same pull-down menus that appear on the Options screen to get
help, see nerd info, send Email to Softwrights, or goto Softwrights' Web
site (through WebLinks menu).
The screen that appears below is the Options screen.
This screen is displayed when you Right-click on Softwrights
Stop Button icon in the System Tray of the Taskbar or
when you press the Options button from the Important Reminder
screen.
You can do several things from this screen ...
- Turn the Important Reminder option on or off
... Same as pressing the appropriate button from the Important
Reminder screen.
- Change the Pre-Shutdown Animation (available in Multimedia
Edition only) ... You can turn the animation Off, set animation for the
full 19-second animation (default), set animation for the shorter
7-second animation, set animation for the shortest 4-second animation,
or set animation to play your own cutomized .AVI animation file.
- Select an action you want to perform after pressing OK
... You can keep Softwrights Stop Button available (default),
Unload Softwrights Stop Button from memory and remove Stop icon
from System Tray, Shut Down computer, or Restart Windows.
- Use the pull-down menus to get help, see nerd info, send
Email to Softwrights, or goto Softwrights' Web site (through WebLinks
menu).
