The design of the program was driven by the following assumptions:
- Most people have better things to do than waste
time (no matter how small) doing something inefficiently when there is a
more efficient way of accomplishing the same thing in less time at a
reasonable cost.
- Most people don't like having to use the Start button
to shutdown.
- Many people do not know that improper shutdown can cause
system problems... Having a one-minute training class to teach them the
importance is impractical... The simple, unobtrusive training feature
(the Important Reminder screen) in Softwrights Stop Button
is practical.
- Extreme RAM shortage problem... If the user's computer is extremely
short on Random Access Memory (RAM) then Softwrights Stop Button,
along with other "memory resident" programs may have to be
unloaded from memory.
- No other known limitations... The program should run OK under
Windows 95, 98, and NT... Hopefully it will run OK under future versions
of Windows... If it doesn't, then the program will have to be "tweaked."
